The oldest golf club in the Bay of Cadiz can be
found in the middle of the Vistahermosa residential
complex in El Puerto de Santa Maria . It has a nine
hole par 36 course, of 2,807 metres from the white
position markers.
Although the holes are relatively short, this course,
that was opened in 1975, demands great precision,
with its fairways surrounded by groups of pine trees
and other obstacles.
The “Casa Grande” dominates this club,
that also has a practise area and a variety of other
sports facilities. Its members organise competitions
throughout the year in different sports, golf, tennis,
paddle tennis, horse riding, football etc.
The members also have a club next to the Vistahermosa
beach with a swimming pool and the “ El Buzo”
restaurant.
Returning to the golf, of special mention is the
4 th hole, a par 3, whose green can only be reached
by a bridge as it is an island in the middle of
a lake. The 7 th requires you to play the drive
with precision and distance to arrive with options
at the dog leg that bends to the left.
At the 8 th, , a par 5, the second shot is blind,
with the ball having to carry over a group of trees
for you to play the third iron shot with options
of reaching the green.
En el corazón de la urbanización de
Vista Hermosa, en El Puerto de Santa María,
se encuentra el Club de Golf más veterano
de la Bahía gaditana, con un recorrido de
nueve hoyos, par 36, de 2.807 metros de blancas.
Aunque los hoyos son relativamente cortos, este
golf inaugurado en 1975 exige una gran precisión,
al rodear cada calle grupos de pinos y otros obstáculos.
La Casa Grande domina este club, que también
cuenta con un campo de prácticas y una amplia
gama de instalaciones deportivas. Sus socios organizan
competiciones todo el año en las distintas
modalidades, golf, tenis, paddle, hípica,
fútbol, etc.
Además, los socios disponen de un club junto
a la playa de Vista Hermosa, con piscina y el restaurante
“EI Buzo”.
De vuelta al golf, destacan el hoyo 4, un par tres
a cuyo green se accede por un puente, al formar
una isla en el centro de un lago. El 7, par 4, obliga
a jugar con precisión y distancia el drive
para llegar con opciones a la curva de este dog-leg
que gira a la izquierda.
En el hoyo 8, el segundo golpe es ciego, debiendo
volar la bola por encima de una arboleda para jugar
un tercer hierro con opciones en este par 5.
